Velo (Ret) Ligtas na Bayan, Maunlad na Pamayanan!, the theme for 2012 National Disaster Consciousness Month emphasizes everybody’s concern and awareness to mitigation efforts towards natural and human-made disaster and climate change. The office of the Civil Defense Regional Photo Exhibit and Static Display of Disaster Equipments and Accessories at the Event Center, SM City of Rosales on 12 – 15 July 2012. These showcases the readiness and capabilities of each province in the Region in terms of disaster risk reduction and management, readiness to respond in case of calamities, to the general public are indeed made aware that the government is doing its part to protect the lives and properties of the people. This also shoes the various activities undertaken by the members of RDRRMC agencies to live to their mandate and commitment in the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of la Union brought in an all weather rescue vehicle with voluminous rescue accessories while the Rosales MDDRMO which represents the Province of Pangasinan display an amphibian vehicle, hard-hull rescue boat and collapsible rubber boat. As he welcome the distinguished guest and visitors, Mayor Ricardo V. Revita narrated the acquisition of a rubber boat sometime in 2005 which was being questioned by some, laughed silently by others and despised by few by saying “wala namang dagat na pag gamitan, bakit bumili pa ng ganyan”. But as Typhoon pepeng struck all over Luzon with unimaginable damaging effects in the municipality, the rubber boat along with other rescue equipments from AFP and PNP were instrumental in rescuing thousands of flood victims. He informed the audience that LGU-MDRRMC of Rosales has been conducted disaster preparedness training for the PNP/BFP, municipal employees and barangay officials. Also, MDRRMO has programmed this month the conduct WASAR Operations Training to beef up manpower resources to man our available watercraft at hand. |
